About the Project
The project involved an extensive GIS-based mapping of locations for borehole drilling based on a geophysical survey and the recommendation of five communities in each state to be provided with one solar-powered borehole with five water fetching points and solar-powered lighting facilities.
Geophysical surveys were carried out to ascertain the most probable specific locations for groundwater abstraction. Recommended locations in each of the communities were drilled in full compliance with the specification and the geophysical surveyor’s advice.
The facility in each location was fenced to secure the installation from vandals. Furthermore, a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Committee (WASHCOM) was established and trained on the daily operations and maintenance of the facility for sustainability.
